Udhampur Bus Accident Leaves 25 Injured

At least 25 passengers have been injured in a bus accident in the Udhampur district of Kashmir, India on Wednesday.

The over-crowded passenger bus, which is thought to have been carrying 48 passengers despite only being registered for 36, was on its way from the district of Udhampur to Panjar when it slid off the road and plunged into a gorge. The accident occurred near the town of Kaint Gali, 103 kilometers north of Jammu.

According to police authorities, 25 people were injured in the accident. There were no fatalities. Ambulance personnel and rescue officials responded to the scene of the accident after being called by eye witnesses, and worked to free the injured passengers from the wreckage.

A large crowd soon gathered on the banks of the gorge, with bystanders attempting to assist the survivors and injured. Police had to disperse the crowd.

21 of the injured patients have been admitted to a district hospital in Udhampur, which four others who were less seriously hurt were transported by ambulance to a Public Health Center in Panchari, where they are being treated for minor injuries. The 21 passengers who were hospitalized are all in a stable condition and many will be discharged soon.

It is not entirely clear what the cause of the accident was, and officials will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident. The bus company that leased the bus, which could not be named in this article, has recently been involved in several other bus accidents, some of them fatal. The frequency with which tragic bus accidents occur on Indian roads has lead to a public enquiry into the safety of public transport in the country, focusing on bus companies and maintenance and safety protocols followed by such companies.

India has one of the most dangerous roads in the world, with national statistics showing that an estimated 110 000 people die on Indian roads each year. Many of these fatalities are due to accidents involving over-crowded buses, such as this one. Authorities are planning on implementing more stringent controls on passengers loads and safety checks in order to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.

Many bus accidents occur as a result of technical or mechanical problems on buses, which can be attributed to the bus company. Companies that provide transport to the public should be held to strict safety control and maintenance requirements to allow the population to travel safely.

36 People Killed in Chinese Bus Smash

At least 36 people have been killed after a long distance passenger bus smashed into a methane carrying transport taken in the Northern region of China last night.

The bus, an overnight sleeper, was travelling through the city of Yanan on the Baotou Motorway just after two in the morning when the incident occurred. The bus was on its way to the Shannxi province’s capital, Xian from Inner Mongolia. Both vehicles went up in flames after the collision, as the tanker was carrying highly flammable methane gas. According to eye witnesses, the accident occurred as the bus was attempting to re-enter the highway after filling up at a gas station.

According to the Xinhua local news agency, local police authorities have confirmed that only three passengers have survived the incident, all of which have sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at local hospitals.

The cause of the accident is still unclear, and local authorities are launching an investigation into the bus company, the driver of the bus (who also perished in the accident) and the circumstances surrounding the incident. The driver and passenger of the tanker, who survived the incident, have been taken into police custody for questioning.

Regional police officer, Yue Jiuxiang, said in a statement to the state broadcaster CCTV that the entire bus was completely destroyed in the accident and ensuing fire. Most of the passengers were asleep at the time of the incident, which is why the death toll is so high, said Jiuxiang. It is also speculated that there was no emergency exit on the bus, making it impossible for passengers to escape from the fire.

Police officials as well as emergency and rescue personnel and the fire department responded to the scene of the accident to put out the fire and pull bodies and survivors from the wreckage. The flames were only completely extinguished two hours after the accident occurred.

Chinese media have published photographs of the gutted wreckage of the bus and tanker. The front portion of the tanker was virtually unscathed, while the bus was completely destroyed. This accident is the worst to happen in China since another sleeper bus went up in flames in July of 2011, killing 41 passengers.

China’s roads are treacherous, with traffic laws often being disregarded across the country. Last year, over 62 000 people were killed in road traffic accidents, according to government statistics.

Understanding Liability In Bus Accident Cases

Many people have the misconception that travelling by bus is one of the safer means of transportation – they are larger and more sturdy than motorcars, and don’t even legally have to have seatbelts. It is true that there are few fewer bus accident incidents than motor car accidents, however when a bus accident does occur, it tends to be a tragedy that can claim tens of lives.

Although buses are often regarded as safe, bus accidents remain a significant cause of death in many states in the United States. School children who travel to school on buses are particularly vulnerable, and protestors are attempting to pressure the government into passing a law requiring all school buses to be equipped with seatbelts, a measure that could save hundreds of children’s lives each year.

When a bus accident occurs, often the biggest question is who, or what caused the accident, and how can such accidents be prevented in the future? Bus drivers should be well qualified and experienced individuals, as they are responsible for the lives of every passenger on their bus. In certain situations, such as negligent driving, the bus driver may be determined liable for an accident, and can be charged in a court of law for negligence or even culpable homicide.

Bus drivers need to have sufficient qualifications, as set out by state and federal law, and should ensure that their buses are well equipped and safe on the road. If the driver is found to be in violation of any of these requirements, or is found to have been driving recklessly when the accident occurred, then they may be held accountable for the accident and any fatalities or injuries that result from it.

Laws that protect bus drivers are complicated, and if you are considering filing a case claiming that the bus driver is liable for an accident, it is advised to consult a qualified, professional bus accident attorney who has a good knowledge of the state and federal laws involving bus drivers.

If a bus accident does occur, the first step is for the driver to file an accident report with the appropriate authorities, such as the police or highway patrol. If you are a witness to an accident, it is a good idea to take down information such as the license plate number and driver’s license number of the people involved in an accident, as this information may be useful if the case goes to court.

How To Prevent School Bus Accidents

School buses provide a convenient service to families, providing reliable transportation services to and from schools. Transport to and from school is thought to be one of the biggest forms of transport in the United States, as hundreds of thousands of children use school buses each day.

However, any form of mass transport has its dangers, and when school bus accidents occur the impact is often massive – children can incur fractures, head injuries, cuts and lacerations and even death.

It is thought that hundreds of children are killed each year in bus accidents, with thousands more injured. Bus accidents are a major public health concern in the United States, costing up to $20 billion a year in resources and compensation to the victims and their families, as well as significant emotional suffering. The question that needs to be asked is what measures can be taken to prevent school bus accidents from occurring in the first place?

There are a number of factors that may contribute to a school bus accident. Bad weather conditions, poor road surfaces and unexpected objects such as animals in the road may all play a role, and these factors are often not easy to control. However, factors such as poor maintenance of buses, negligent driving, overloading of buses and speeding are the most common cause of accidents, and these factors can be improved upon.

Parents, children and schools all have a role to play in helping to prevent bus accidents. First of all, children should be taught appropriate safety measures, such as looking on both sides of the road before crossing a street or getting off of a bus, and not venturing into the road when a bus is approaching.

Children should learn to never distract the bus driver while he is driving. A distracted driver is a major cause of accidents, particularly on school buses where children can become rowdy. Children should also be sure to always stay seated while on the bus, as injuries tend to be less severe in the event of an accident if the children are seated.

Unfortunately, school buses are not required by law to have seat belts installed on every seat. However, if seat belts are provided then the children should be sure to keep them fastened for the entire duration of the journey.

By following these simple instructions, children and their parents can help to improve the safety of their transport and hopefully prevent the tragedy that is a school bus accident.

Twelve Passengers Killed In Mexico Bus Accident

At least twelve passengers have been killed and a further 23 people injured after a passenger bus plunged into a ravine in Mexico.

The bus was carrying a group of senior residents from an old age home in the province of Tlaxcala, to the province of Mazatlan on the Pacific coastline, where they were planning to attend a Christian conference.

According to the Durango state civil defense spokesperson, Mr. Arturo Galindo, twelve passengers have been confirmed dead, with 22 passengers injured, a number seriously so.

Eye witness reports claim that the bus was coming around a sharp bend on a highway in the mountainous province of Durango, when it veered off the side of the road and plunged more than 165 feet into a deep ravine close to the Sierra Madre. The incident occurred at around 11.30am on Friday the 17th of August.

The driver of the bus, as well as the tour guide and the driver’s assistant, were all killed on impact. The other victims included four men and eight women, who were all between the ages of 58 and 65. All of the deceased have been officially identified and their next of kin have been notified.

Emergency services responded promptly to the scene of the accident, helping to free bodies and survivors from the wreckage. A large crowd soon gathered on the highway above the ravine, and had to be dispersed by police troops.

Those injured in the accident were transported by ambulance and helicopter to local ambulances in the Durango province, while the deceased were collected by coroner services.

According to a report released by the Mexican government on  Saturday, Tlaxcala officials are sending a delegation to the region to provide assistance and support to the injured and the families of the deceased.

This tragic bus accident occurs just less than a month after another fatal bus crash that left 26 people dead, adding to the high death toll on Mexican roads this summer. Mexican president Felipe Calderon had cautioned road traffic users earlier last week about safe driving. In his statement, President Calderon mentioned that around 16000 people die on Mexico’s roads each year, making this country the seventh most deadly place to drive in the world.

Local authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, and it remains to be seen whether it was driver error, negligence or an oversight on the part of the bus company that contributed to the fatal crash.

52 Killed In Tragic Indian Bus Accident

At least 52 passengers were killed and a further 45 seriously injured after a grossly overloaded passenger bus skidded off the road and down a gorge on Saturday the 11th of August. The accident, which occurred in the Northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, was one of the worst road accidents that the country has ever seen.

The overloaded bus which was illegally carrying over one hundred passengers, of which many were seated on the roof, slid off the road and plunged into a ravine in a mountainous rural area of Himachal Pradesh. The bus was only registered to carry a maximum of 42 passengers. A large number of the passengers had climbed on board the overloaded bus after their bus, managed by the same bus company, broke down and they were stranded on the side of the highway in the sparsely populated area. The bus was en route to Shimla from Dulera when the accident happened.

Sunil Chaudhary, the district deputy commissioner, has confirmed that 52 bodies have so far been recovered with 45 passengers being injured in the accident, many critically so. In a statement given to the AFP news agency on Sunday morning, Chaudhary warned that the death toll is likely to rise as the week progresses, as more than a dozen of the injured passengers are in a critical condition in local hospitals.

The families of the deceased arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to identify and remove the bodies of the victims. Some families choose to take their family members to be cremated, and the state government provided trucks full of wood in order to cremate the rest of the deceased at the site of the accident.

The exact cause of the accident is as yet unknown, but eye witnesses report that it appeared that the driver lost control of the bus while turning a corner at high speed near the town of Chamba, around 190km away from the state capital, Shimla. This particular road is renowned for its treacherous hair pin bends in the mountainous region. It is unknown whether the driver of the bus was among the deceased.

The first to arrive on the scene of the accident were local villagers, who attempted to pull the dead and injured away from the wreckage. Emergency vehicles arrived soon after.
